Kites are flying high in the museum’s new summer exhibit in the lower gallery.  Find out how kites helped to win World War II, advanced science, changed sports, shaped cultures around the world, and more! If you’re feeling inspired after all that, you can even make your own kite to fly.

This exhibit is free and only runs from June 1 to August 15th, so don’t wait!

The summer of the dragon

We are excited to finally announce plans for the temporary “Kites!” exhibit that will run from June 1 to August 15 in the downstairs gallery. Visitors will learn about kites from around the world, see different types of kites, find out why they fly, and even have the opportunity to make an indoor kite (guaranteed to fly).

This handsome, fearsome kite creature has been waiting patiently in the office to be showcased in the summer exhibit and he’s brought plenty of friends with him. The exhibit is shaping up to be more awesome than anything we’ve ever attempted before.  Be sure to mark your calendar and stay tuned for updates!
